B. Reflexive Verbs
I'm going myself.
They themselves don't believe it.
We (oursel ves) work t.oo.
He's defending himself.
I burned myself.
I saw John in front of me.
The exarnples in 2 above illustrate the use of rnaq(a)- in Hungarian where j t parallels the English '-self' etc. used as the object of a transitive verb.
There are also in Hungarian verbs with special suffixes which are 'reflexive' , that is, the action is in some way related to the subject. (The subject may or may not be the object of the action.)
Reflexive verbs are of the intransitive -ik type, with characteristic suffixes:

We have had many examples of the present partieipial form ending in
-6,
-ó;dolgozó, ülő, néző, kiadó,~. This form indicates (one) doing (sueh and sueh) and may modify a noun (dolgozo ember - working man) or be used independently
(dolgozó - worker).
D. The c'artieipial Form Ending in -t, -tt
The suffix -t, -tt added to the verb stem forms what is known as the past participle: foglalt,-vIrt, nyitott, töltött. (It is identieal in form to the third person singular of the indefinite past.) It eorresponds in use to the English past partieiple employed as an adjeetive: 'The elosed door'; 'the baked potatoes' .
Sült krumplit rendelt.
A csukott ajtó előtt álltam.
E. The Partiei~i~l Form Ending in~, -ve
He ordered baked potatoes.
I was standing before the elosed door.
The verbal form ending in -va, -ve is of ten used with some form of lenni (never omitted in this eonstruetion) or some other intransitive verb to
correspond to the English past partieiple in the pred~eate: 'The door is elosed' 'The books are open', 'The store remained elosed' . It may also be used adverb-ially to eorrespor.d to the English 'while' plus present partieiple or simply to the fo~m ending in -ing. Sometimes i t may be translated into English by a form ending in '-ly'.
