D’autres études portant sur la parentalité s’avèrent nécessaires afin de préciser et d’approfondir certains des résultats obtenus. Entre autres, les deux parents devraient être pris en considération, et si possible dans des entrevues de couples pour obtenir une meilleure image de la dynamique parentale, permettant ainsi de combler l’absence plus fréquente des pères dans des études portant sur des réalités où ils sont normalement impliqués. Bien que rendant la situation d’entrevue et d’analyse plus complexe, cette approche fournirait des indices importants concernant la variabilité de cette dynamique selon le degré de concordance ou de discordance des résultats des deux parents. On peut supposer que certains des problèmes qu’ils diraient rencontrer seraient associés à leur manière de communiquer entre eux et avec l’examinateur. Dans les résultats obtenus, certains participants pré-relativistes ont laissé entendre qu’il leur était difficile de communiquer avec leur conjoint (voir participants 20 et 45) alors que chez le couple relativiste interviewé, la communication était fluide, bilatérale et très respectueuse (voir participants 41 et 42).

Enfin, certaines caractéristiques du vécu personnel et professionnel du parent devraient être abordées plus systématiquement dans l’optique de mieux préciser leurs influences respectives sur le développement de la parentalité. Par exemple, pour les parents ayant spontanément mentionné leur domaine d’étude ou leur profession, une influence du niveau de scolarité semble se dégager des résultats. Cet effet se montre particulièrement présent chez ceux qui ont fait des études en sciences humaines. Il faudrait s’assurer de retenir les aspects considérés importants pour mener d’autres recherches dans le domaine. Les résultats de la présente étude, carentiels à cet égard, n’ont pas permis de vérifier l’influence des aspects personnels (vécu affectif ou personnalité) ou professionnels (domaine d’étude ou expérience en lien avec l’éducation des enfants) pouvant influencer l’évolution de l’adulte.
En terminant, il est pertinent de se rappeler que la parentalité implique un questionnement constant et perpétuel de la part du parent pouvant être perçu par certains comme négatif et pour d’autres comme une source de croissance personnelle. Le passage d’une perception à l’autre comporte plusieurs embûches et représente un long cheminement sur le plan de la réflexion pour l’adulte.
