Les compléments alimentaires aux allégations santé très variées repré- sentent une part importante des interventions non médicamenteuses.
Nous constatons que selon les résultats obtenus, les travaux et les programmes de recherche développés de par le monde, conduisent ou non à des études randomisées contrôlées sur l’homme voire à la valorisation industrielle de compléments alimentaires présentant des allégations santé identifiées.
Sous contrôle médical et en accord avec les patients (Beatty et al., ; Violette et Saad, ), les compléments alimentaires pourraient être admi- nistrés en compléments d’autres traitements non médicamenteux pour amé- liorer le confort de vie des patients ou en prévention de certaines patholo- gies voire en appui de traitements médicamenteux dans certaines maladies chroniques pour en limiter les effets secondaires.
Des études coût/efficacité des compléments alimentaires devront égale- ment être envisagées afin d’évaluer leur impact sur l’économie de la Santé.
