WPR/RC30.R2l ANTIMALARIA PROGRAMME The Regional Committee,

Having considered the report presented by the Regional Director on the status of the antimalaria programme;l

Recalling resolution WPR/RC29.R13;

1. THANKS the Regional Director for the information provided;

2. URGES Member States to:

(1) intensify their efforts for combating malaria as set out in resolution WPR/RC29.R13;

(2) collaborate in training and research activities in the field of malaria;

3. REQUESTS the Regional Director to continue to provide the necessary support.

WPR/RC30.R22 PROGRAMME ON DIARRHOEAL DISEASES CONTROL The Regional Committee,

Having reviewed the report submitted by the Regional Director;2

Having considered inter alia that cholera immunization of travellers, using the vaccine at present available, will not prevent the spread of cholera;

1. NOTES the outline for a regional programme in diarrhoeal diseases control;

2. URGES Member States to strengthen their programmes in diarrhoeal diseases control;

3. REQUESTS the Regional Director to extend all possible support to Member States to enable them to establish programmes or strengthen existing programmes;

4. FURTHER URGES Member States to maintain vigilant surveillance for cholera and to take prompt action if it is detected.

WPR/RC30.R23 RADIATION MEDICINE IN PUBLIC HEALTH The Regional Committee,

Having considered the paper presented by the Regional Director;l Recognizing the need to strengthen national capabilities for planning and developing radiological services;

1. URGES Member States to collaborate in improving practices ih the medical use of ionizing radiation and radionuclides as well as the protection of radiation workers and the population (including patients) against excessive exposure to ionizing radiation;

2. ENDORSES the proposed plan for better coverage and utilization of radiation medicine services;

3. REQUESTS the Regional Director to continue efforts in the Western Pacific Region towards cooperation in establishing and developing radiodiagnostic, radiotherapeutic and nuclear medicine services, as appropriate, for the overall development of comprehensive health care

programmes.

HOST AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES AND THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION

The Regional Committee,

Having considered the report submitted by the Regional Director on the progress of negotiations between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the World Health Organization on interpretation of Section 22(g), Article VIII of the Host Agreement,
