AFR/RC30/R11: 1982-1983 The Regional Committee,
Having studied thoroughly the report presented by the Sub-Committee responsible for the proposed programme budget 1982-1983;1
Noting with satisfaction that the programme budget has been prepared in close and continuous collaboration with Member States;
Observing that this programme budget is the last to be prepared within the Sixth General Programme of Work (PGW) for the period 1978-1983 and the first to be prepared after the Alma- Ata conference on Primary Health Care (PHC);
Noting that, following the adoption of Portuguese as the third working language of the Region,2 this document has for the first time been published in three volumes (English, French and Portuguese);
Emphasizing that the 1982-1983 programme budget is geared essentially to primary health care, the eight components of which are given high priority;
Convinced that activities have been broadly focused on the essential target of health for all by the year 2000,
1. EMPHASIZES that the detailed study by the Programme Sub-Committee has facilitated the work and decisions of the Regional Committee;
2. ENDORSES the Sub-Committee’s conclusions and recommendations concerning the proposed 1982-1983 programme budget;
3. NOTES that the Regional Director’s Development Programme is useful when new programmes are put into effect, particularly for Zimbabwe upon its accession to independence;
4. COMMENDS the Regional Director and his staff their precise and rational presentation of the programme budget for 1982-1983;
5. REQUESTS the Regional Director to transmit the proposals for 1982-1983 to the Director-General for study and inclusion in the proposed programme budget of the Organization for 1982-1983.
