AFR/RC31/R8:
The Regional Committee,
Considering the Programme Sub-Committee’s decision concerning participation in WHO meetings of programming interest for 1980-1983;1
Having examined the relevant reports2 and documents AFR/E&T/141 and AFR/E&T/142, 1. COMMENDS the members of the Programme Sub-Committee for their reports;
2. INVITES Member States and training institutes to:
(i) develop a network of training centres for specialists;
(ii) set up a network of centres for the production and distribution of teaching material;
(iii) integrate primary health care into curricula for medical studies and all health personnel;
3. DRAWS THE ATTENTION of member States to the advantages of:
(i) setting up or strengthening national multisectoral health councils;
(ii) making use of the managerial processes developed by WHO, particularly those concerning health programming, information systems and evaluation;
4. REQUESTS the Regional Director to support Member States’ activities in the aforementioned fields and periodically to report thereon to the Committee.
