MULLING THINGS OVER

Today, Passion (Palm) Sunday, we begin the journey of Holy Week once again. We will witness the deepest experience of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. We are invited by the Church to travel these days in such a way that they become our own ± we see and hear and feel the emotions of Holy Week and are asked to share those wounded moments of Jesus’ life that brought us re- demption and divine love. We are not “playacting” history; but, because of our sacramental life, we are participating in a part of Jesus’ history. It becomes our own. Slow down this week. Take extra time to pray this week. Allow this time to truly become holy just for you.

An Invitation to Journey Through Lent with Catholic Relief Services (CRS)

Rice Bowl

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Over the past few weeks, we met families from Gua- temala, Bangladesh, Rwanda ± all overcoming hunger, poverty and other challenges and doing some pretty amazing things to build hope and dignity for themselves and their communities with our help and through Cath- olic Relief Services. Although we are into the final days of Lent, there is still plenty of time to continue the three pillars of Lent ± prayer, fasting, almsgiving ± to grow in God and show love and care for brothers and sisters. Our

sacrifices during this holy season of Lent have the power to change lives.

Mission Statement

We profess our belief that Christ sent His Spirit to bestow gifts on His followers according to their part in car- rying out His mission. We are committed to be visible signs to each other, and to our community, of Christ’s Presence among us: proclaiming and evangelizing the Gospel, witnessing to God’s love according to the Roman Catholic Church’s teaching; ministering to the needs of all; and, fostering the spiritual life and growth among parishioners.

Online Giving Now Available

Want to keep up with your weekly do- nations to the parish? Now you can do that online at:

https://www.osvhub.com/ourladyofpeacegeneva/funds You have a choice of onetime or recurring dona- tions, and the option of donating to second collections as well.

PONTIFICAL GOOD FRIDAY COLLECTION

Pope Francis has asked our parish to support the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, which helps Chris- tians in the Holy Land. Your support helps the Church to minister in parishes, provide Catholic schools and offer religious education. The Pontifical Good Friday

Collection also helps to preserve the sacred shrines. The pandemic hit particularly hard the Christians in the Holy Land. Most of them depend on pilgrimages to work. In these times of crisis, the Pontifical Good Friday

Collection is also necessary to meet the basic needs of the People of God still living in this Land where Jesus was born. When you contribute to the Pontificate Good Friday Collection, you become an instrument of peace and join Catholics round the world in solidarity with the Church in the Holy Land. Please be generous! For more information about Christians in the Holy Land, visit

22.myfranciscan.org/goodFriday.

Stewardship Reflection

“...I tell you, Peter, before the cock crows this day, you will deny three times that you know me.” (Luke 22:34) How many times have you heard someone make a disparaging comment about God or our Catholic faith?

How did you react? Do you remain quiet not to cause a disturbance? Or, because you don’t want people to think negatively about you? Or, because you don’t think you know enough about the Catholic faith? Pray for the courage to speak up and enter into a respectful dialogue when the opportunity rises. Joyfully share your faith with others.

Camp Stella Maris

Each year, Camp Stella Maris sends hundreds of kids to camp through the Charles M. Bayer Campership Program. The Campership Program provides needbased scholarships for resident, day, and family camp pro- grams. Campership awards are extended to families who otherwise might not have the opportunity to send their children to camp. Our goal is to ensure that all chil- dren can experience the loving and magical environment of Camp Stella Maris. Camp Stella Maris awards more than $150,000 to campersinneed annually.

Join us for the Inaugural Stella 5K & Kids 1/2 Mile Run!

This will be a trail run from the Calvary Lodge at Men- don Ponds Park on April 30th. The family friendly race benefits the Campership fund.

ADORATION CHAPEL

"The Church and the world have a great need for Eucha- ristic worship. Jesus awaits us in this Sacrament of love.

Let us not refuse the time to go to meet Him in adora- tion, in contemplation full of faith, and open to making amends for the serious offenses and crimes of the world.

Let our adoration never cease!" (John Paul ll, Dominicae cenae, 3)

If anyone would be interested in joining this tremen- dous ministry of prayer please contact Dorothy Kalina (7898099) or Mary Ann Lawson (7897629).

Did you know?

St. FrancisSt. Stephen School partners with St.

Pauly Textile Inc. to collect used clothing and textiles.

The school receives payment for these items, which are then distributed both here in the U.S. and world- wide to people who need them. St. Pauly collects over 120,000 pounds of clothing every day and estimates that this clothing ends up in 44 different countries yearly. In 2017 the company was able to help keep over 20 million articles of clothing out of landfills. The company was founded 22 years ago in Rochester and is an A+ rated member of the Better Business Bureau.

Accepted items include clothing, shoes, sneakers, belts, purses, blankets, sheets, drapes, linens, pillow- cases, and stuffed animals. Donors are asked to donate items in a plastic bag to protect against dirt and the elements. Receipts are available in a small box located on the shed which is located in the school parking lot.

Please keep us in mind when you are cleaning out your closets. Your donation helps the school and the envi- ronment!

PASTORAL COUNCIL SELECTION PROCESS

It is that time of year to select new members for Our Lady of Peace Pastoral Council. If you remember, last year we did not have a selection process because of COVID and all members of our Pastoral Council agreed to serve us one more year. WE thank them for this generous gesture. We are looking for three candi- dates from Our Lady of Peace Parish. Candidates should be registered parishioners, at least 18 years of age, and interested in serving the community in this capacity. The term is three years. Nominees will be invited to a meeting in May to talk about the

responsibilities of the Council and have their questions answered. Selections will be made May 1415, 2022, during the weekend Masses. Please consider people whom you feel would be good leaders. You can most certainly nominate yourself.

Cargar Su Cruz

¿Cómo vamos a responder?
