MULLING THINGS OVER!

! Recently, I received the following letter in the mail. Normally, I do not reprint letters on the front page of the bulle- tin. Given the tenor of this letter, and it’s moving content I felt it was important to share it with you in its entirety. So, here we go….!

!

“Dear Father Mull,!

! Saint Pius Tenth Parish, as many other parishes, has experienced its share of the suffering involved in the sexual abuse scandal, the diminished resource of available clergy and, unlike other parishes, the burning of our church building.

Yet, we have learned that, out of the ashes come renewed life, renewed hope.!

! After many hundreds of hours of meeting with the Diocese, architects, engineers, committee members, contractors, and a finance drive to meet costs, we started the process of construction in the Spring of 2017. We can honestly say that we had a lot of support from our community in Chili. We had offers from various Church communities to hold our ser- vices in their houses of worship. The Town of Chili’s government offered their support, working closely with our archi- tect to expedite our construction process. We experienced prayer and financial support from parishes and faith communi- ties around the Diocese. Individuals and communities journeyed with us in our pain, suffering and our process of heal- ing. We are now worshipping in a beautiful new church building, thanks be to God!!

! While our most prominent wounds have been generally known within the Diocese of Rochester, we know that the suffering in other parishes may not be as visible. The staff and the parishioners of Saint Pius Tenth intend to pray for healing and hope for each of the parishes and faith communities in our diocese. During the week of July 7, we will be offering prayers specifically for Our Lady of Peace Parish in Geneva.!

! We know that God is doing wonderful things in your faith community. During the week of our focus on your parish, our parishioners and clergy will be praying that the seeds you are planting will yield onehundredfold, that the love you offer will radiate in the hearts of all that you encounter, and, particularly, that you experience healing in any and all wounds within your parish.!

! We kindly ask that you let your parishioners know that we are praying for all of you during the week of July 7.

Please let us know if there is anything in particular that your parish would like us to focus on in our prayers for you. We pray for the healing of all your wounds, help in all your sufferings, and peace and joy as we work together toward God’s Kingdom.!

! In the Peace and Love of Christ, The Rev. Paul Bonacci and the Parish of St. Pius X.”!

!

I have gratefully acknowledged Father Bonacci’s letter to us and his promise of prayer and support during the week of July 7th. I am deeply touched by the love and concern that this letter expresses and can’t help but think that this was also the vision of Jesus and our early leaders like Peter and Paul when they were alive, preaching and beginning to build our beloved Church. I assured Father Bonacci that we, in turn, will be praying for our sisters and brothers at St. Pius X.

We are not strangers but fellow travelers on the road of salvation. If we can’t help and support one another, whom can we help and support!!

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY !

! As you know, today we celebrate the birthday of our country. With the Declaration of Independence, the Unit- ed States formally severed relationship with England and established herself as a separate and independent nation.

Our forbearers had to establish principles on which to build a nation and believed in the vision of those who travelled to this new land and now new nation. Each year when we celebrate the Fourth of July, we are asked to renew our commitment to the principles of our country that we are all created in the image of God; and, that all have certain inalienable rights: life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Our republic was meant to be a democratic association of all citizens and that these citizens would take responsibility for their country protecting it, nurtur- ing it, welcoming new members and treasuring those who have helped to make it great. Happy Fourth of July to all who read these words. Let us pray in thanks to God for the country given to us, let us pray for those who serve our country and protect it. Let us pray that we will never lose the humility that calls us to call this land “our land”

in such a way that we are also willing to share it with all who want to share our dream! !

THANK YOU !

On June 7 and 8, the Annual Family Fun festival was held. The Good Lord blessed us with magnificent weather! The crowds came, everyone (especially the children) seemed to have a great time. By the time it ended, we had sold out of cakes in the Cake Booth, snow cones in the Snow Cone Booth, and the Bas- ket Raffle jugs were filled. Thank you for your presence and support at the Festival. It is always fun to greet folks we do not see too often. Enjoy Festival food and watch the children play. Thanks to Bill Greco who oversaw an- other successful Festival. Thanks to all the musicians and DJ’s who provided music. Thanks to those who bought tickets for the Raffle and congratulations to those who won the raffle. These events do not just happen. They require many hours of planning, organizing and then overseeing. A special thank you to the Geneva Fire De- partment who provided a truck to be toured and the Gene- va City Police who were on duty keeping us safe and making sure everyone had a safe and happy time. This success is the work of many hands thanks to those who belong to those hands.!

!

Stewardship Reflection !

! The story of the Loaves and Fishes shows us that when we share what we have, even if it doesn’t seem like that much, miracles can happen! Do not think that your gift is too small or insignificant! God blesses all the gifts we offer and makes them wondrous.!

Dios Nos Llama y ¿Cómo Respondemos? !

Espíritu va a pedirnos hacer algunas cosas difíciles.

Esa llamada insistente no debes ignorar. Respondas.!
