AFR/RC21/R1: 1970-1971 The Regional Committee,
Having examined the annual report submitted by the Regional Director;
Considering that, again this year, the discussions have brought out the importance of:
training of staff,
national health planning,
development of basic health services,
communicable disease control and
environmental health,
which have been dominant priorities in the programmes of the Regional Office during the period under review;
Considering that the occurrence of cholera in Africa has demonstrated the ability of the Regional Office to take rapid and effective counteraction,
1. APPROVES the record of varied and productive achievements contained in the excellent report for the past year;
2. CONGRATULATES the Regional Director and his dynamic team and ASSURES him of the unqualified support of the Member States for the orientation of the Organization’s activities, which is realistic and adapted to conditions in Africa;
3. REQUESTS the Regional Director to consider all possible means of accelerating the development of activities in the fields of environmental health and health education of the public.
