AFR/RC26/R2: 1975

The Regional Committee,

Having examined the succinct report of the Regional Director contained in document AFR/RC26/3;

Noting with satisfaction that the presentation of the report is in accordance with resolution AFR/RC25/R2,

1. CONGRATULATES the Regional Director on the objective analysis of the major events of 1975;

2. APPROVES the form and content of that innovative report together with the measures proposed for implementing the programme in 1976, including the creation of multidisciplinary regional expert panels;1

3. REQUESTS the Regional Director:

(i) to continue the application of resolution AFR/RC25/R8 on new ways of WHO collaboration;

(ii) to encourage the States to give priority to the development of primary health care within the framework of the policy of self-reliance, and self-development making broad use of local resources;

4. INVITES the Regional Director to convey the present resolution to the Director- General and to report on progress made thereon to the twenty-seventh session of the Regional Committee.
