COPPER PROCESSING INDUSTRY

Resolution adopted by the Conference at its

Taking account of the abundant supplies of copper which are mined

in the sub-region,

Being mindful of t\o resolutions of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development relating to the export of processed and semi- processed products from the less developed countries to the developed

countries, and

Considering the resolutions already passed at this Conference aimed at closer economic integration in the sub-region,

1- Invites the Executive Secretary to commission a comprehensive study by independent consultants as soon as possible into the feasibility of establishing a copper processing industry in the sub-region in consultation with governments of copper producing countries of the sub-region;

>. Recommends that the terms of reference for the consultants should cover not only the production and processing of copper and copper products for the sub-region, but should also embrace the export of such products

to external markets.
