WÍEREAS
. ' Article 44 of the WHO Constitution- provides that the Health Assembly shall define the geographical areas in which it is
desirable to establish a regional organization to meet the special needs of regional areas, and
WHEREAS
the region comprising India and the surrounding countries in South East Asia forms a homogenous area with common complex health problems, the solution of which can most adequately be carried out through a regional office,
THE WORLD HEALTH ASSEMBLY RESOLVES
that a regional organization of WHO be established as soon as possible with headquarters in India. This regional
organization may serve the countries such as Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Burma, Ceylon, Malaya, Singapore,
Indonesia, Australia and such other countries in South East Asia as may be willing to join the organization.
