La gasolina y su vapor son sumamente infla-mables y explosivos. Mantenga la gasolina ale-jada de chispas, cigarrillos encendidos, llamas u otras fuentes de ignición.

Compruebe si existen fugas, grietas o anomalí-as en el tubo de combustible. Si detecta cual-quier problema, deberá repararlo de inmediato un concesionario Yamaha o un mecánico cuali-ficado.

INSPECTING FUEL FILTER

Gasoline (petrol) is highly flammable, and its vapors are flammable and explosive.

8If you have any question about properly doing this procedure, consult your Yamaha dealer.

8Do not perform this procedure on a hot or running engine. Allow the engine to cool.

8There will be fuel in the fuel filter. Keep away from sparks, cigarettes, flames or other sources of ignition.

8This procedure will allow some fuel to spill. Catch fuel in a rag. Wipe up any spilled fuel immediately.

8The fuel filter must be reassembled carefully with O-ring, filter cup, and hoses in place. Improper assembly or replacement can result in a fuel leak, which could result in a fire or explosion hazard.

8Si vous avez des questions sur la procédu-re corprocédu-recte de nettoyage à appliquer, consultez votre distributeur Yamaha.

8Ne procédez pas au nettoyage du filtre à carburant sur un moteur encore chaud.

Laissez d’abord refroidir le moteur.

8Il reste du carburant dans le filtre à car-burant. Maintenez bien à l’écart les sources d’étincelles ou de chaleur, les flammes nues, les cigarettes, etc.

8L’application de cette procédure vous fera renverser du carburant. Recueillez ce car-burant au moyen de chiffons et essuyez immédiatement tout ce qui aura débordé.

8Le filtre à carburant doit être soigneuse-ment remonté avec le joint torique, la cou-pelle de filtre et les tuyaux. Un remontage ou un remplacement incorrect peut entraî-ner des fuites de carburant, risquant ainsi de provoquer une explosion ou un incen-die.

8No realice este procedimiento con un motor caliente o en funcionamiento. Deje que se enfríe el motor.

8Habrá gasolina en el tubo de combustible.

Manténgase alejado de chispas, cigarrillos encendidos, llamas u otras fuentes de igni-ción.

8Al realizar este procedimiento se derramará algo de combustible. Recoja el combustible con un trapo. Limpie de inmediato el com-bustible que pueda derramarse.

8El filtro de combustible se debe volver a montar cuidadosamente con la junta tórica, la cazoleta del filtro y los tubos en posición.

Si el montaje o el cambio se realiza incorrec-tamente, podrá producirse una fuga de com-bustible, con el consiguiente riesgo de incen-dio o explosión.

1) Remove the nut holding the fuel filter assembly if equipped.

2) Unscrew the filter cup 1, catching any spilled fuel in a rag.

3) Remove the filter element 2, and wash it in solvent. Allow it to dry.

Inspect the filter element and O-ring 3to make sure they are in good con-dition. Replace them if necessary. If any water is found in the fuel, the Yamaha portable fuel tank or other fuel tanks should be checked and cleaned.

4) Reinstall the filter element in the cup.

Make sure the O-ring is in position in the cup. Firmly screw the cup onto the filter housing 4.

5) Attach the filter assembly to the bracket so that the fuel hoses are attached to the filter assembly.

6) Run the engine and check the filter and lines for leaks.

1) Enlevez l’écrou qui retient le filtre à carbu-rant, si équipé.

2) Dévissez la coupelle de filtre 1 et recueillez le carburant qui s’écoule au moyen de chiffons.

3) Retirez l’élément filtrant 2 et nettoyez-le dans du solvant. Faites-le sécher. Vérifiez alors le bon état de l’élément filtrant et du joint torique 3. Remplacez-les si nécessai-re. Si vous constatez la présence d’eau dans le carburant, le réservoir à carburant por-table Yamaha ou les autres réservoirs à car-burant doivent être vérifiés et nettoyés.

4) Replacez l’élément filtrant dans la coupel-le. Veillez à ce que le joint torique soit cor-rectement positionné dans la coupelle. Vis-sez fermement la coupelle sur le logement du filtre 4.

5) Fixez le filtre sur son support pour raccor-der les tuyaux d’alimentation au filtre.

6) Faites tourner le moteur et vérifiez si le filtre ne fuit pas.

1) Retire la tuerca que sujeta el conjunto de filtro de combustible, de estar provista.

2) Destornille la cazoleta del filtro 1, reco-giendo con un trapo el combustible que pueda derramarse.

3) Retire el elemento del filtro 2y lávelo con disolvente. Déjelo secar. Inspeccione el ele-mento del filtro y la junta tórica 3 para asegurarse de que se encuentran en buen estado. Si es necesario, cámbielos. Si se encuentra agua en el combustible, en el depósito portátil de combustible de Yama-ha o en otros depósitos de combustible, se hará una comprobación y se limpiará.

4) Vuelva a instalar el elemento del filtro en la cazoleta. Asegúrese de que la junta tórica queda en posición en la cazoleta. Atornille firmemente la cazoleta a la caja del filtro 4.

5) Fije el conjunto del filtro al soporte de modo que los tubos de combustible que-den conectados al conjunto del filtro.

6) Ponga en marcha el motor y compruebe si el filtro presenta fugas.

INSPECTING IDLING SPEED

8Do not touch or remove electrical parts when starting or during operation.

8Keep hands, hair and clothes away from flywheel and other rotating parts while engine is running.

This procedure must be performed while the outboard motor is in the water. A flushing attachment or test tank can also be used.

A diagnostic tachometer should be used for this procedure. Results may vary depending on whether testing is conduct-ed with the flushing attachment, in a test tank, or with the outboard motor in the water.

1) Start the engine and allow it to warm up fully in neutral until it is running smoothly. If the outboard motor is mounted on a boat, be sure the boat is tightly moored.

2) Verify whether the idle speed is set to specification. For idle speed specifica-tions, see “Specifications” in this chapter.

NOTE:

Correct idling speed inspection is only possible if the engine is fully warmed up.

If not warmed up fully, the idle speed will measure higher than normal. If you have difficulty verifying the idle speed, or the idle speed requires adjustment, consult a Yamaha dealer or other qualified mechan-ic.
