1. Introduction
R. D. Anderson and R. Schori prove in
[2]
and[3 ] the following
theo-rem that will be referred to as Theorem I. If M is a
separable

finite dimensional Fréchet spaces for which the condition is not satisfied.
In order to utilize the
product
structure on F that isimposed by
this con-dition,
as theproduct
structure on s isused,
it is necessary toidentify
some
special
conditions that are formalized in Definition 4.1 of this paper.Many
of thetechniques
in theproof
of Theorem 1 werestrongly
de-pendent
uponseparable
metricproperties
and alarge portion
of thispaper is devoted to
developing
alternativeprocedures.
Forexample,
theseparable
metricproperty
ofquaranteeing
the existence of certain star finite open covers was usedextensively
in[3 ].
A theorem of E. A. Michael[13,
Theorem3.6] bridges
one of these gaps and is used to obtain somerather
general
conditions for spaces Y and Z such that Y Z ~ Z.Another
important
tool ingeneralizing
from theseparable
to the non-separable
case is Lemma 5.2 of this paper.Henderson has
strongly generalized
andsupplemented
hispreviously
mentioned results. The author and
Henderson,
ina joint
paper[12],
combine the results of this paper and those in
[10]
and[11 ] to
prove thefollowing
