Cons~doring that tho ~our countries of the Maghreb have been engaged in a pilot experiment in economic oo-operation ~or more than two years and have set up tho multinational institutions needod to achieve this goal,

Convincod o~ the noed to take concrote aotion as spoedily as possiblo on the basis o~ oxhauetivo studios d~ing with all sectors of econ~c

and BOcial activity,

Noting that to this end they noed both larg~oale and varied teohnioal ~tance from all tho spoeialized agencies of the United Nations,

Noting that United Nations rogulations provido only ~or assistance to individual countries in connexion with national programmes,

Convincod o~ tho need for a revision of thoso regulations and their adaptation to tho current mevement towards ecenomie co-oporation in the various Afrioan Bub-regions through the establishment o~ multinational groups for economic co-operation that arc in greater need of Unitod Nat10ns technical assistance,

Recalling that at the olose of tho mooting of tho Maghreb Council of Ministers for Economio A~fairs held &t Tangior in Novomber 1964, the Executivo Seorotary signed a protocol of agroomont with tho ministers of the four countries, by which he undortook to provido tho Maghrob eoonomic institutions with all tho tochnical assistanco roqui~cd for their actiVities,

Requests tho Exocutive Socrotary to approach tho Unitod Nations and tho spocialized agencies on thoir bohal~ with a view to tho

rocognition of the Maghreb Council of Ministors for Economic Af~airs,

which is tho supreme organ of tho Maghreb institutions for economic co-operation and is empowered to take decisions for the four countries, as a body ql.lalifi"d to r<>c<>ivo diJ>GO't to.ohnioal assistanco from tho specialized agsncios of tho Unitod Nations.
