Chapitre : valeur absolue
I Définition
La distance entre deux réels a et b est égale à b – a .
On peut distinguer deux cas : ● si b ≥ a alors b – a = b – a
● si b ≤ a alors b – a = a – b II Propriétés
b – a = a – b
a + b = – a – b
a + b = a – ( -b ) = distance de a à –b Distance d’un nombre avec zéro :
x = x si x ≥ 0
x = - x si x ≤ 0
x ≥ 0
III Exemples
1. Transformation d’écriture
2 – 5 = 5 - 2
8 = 8
- 8 = 8
Autre méthode de calcul ( lorsque l’on a compris la première ) 2 – 5 = -3 = 3 2. Equations
x + 3 = 5
Donc x – ( -3) = 5
S = { -8 ; 2 }
3. Inéquations
x - 3 ≤ 5
S = [ - 2 ; 8 ]
