Résumé. — Nous considérons la déformation d'une macromolécule isolée, sous l'effet d'un champ de vitesse à gradient S longitudinal dans le cas où S dépend du temps de façon simple (cré- neaux de durée ff). Pour un produit S0 suffisamment grand (S0 > 1) et au-delà d'un certain seuil de gradient (S > Se), on devrait observer un brusque étirement de la molécule (transition coil-stretch) se traduisant notamment par un gros changement de la biréfringence d'écoulement.
Abstract. — We consider the deformation of an isolated macromolecule submitted to a longitu- dinal velocity gradient 5 applied suddenly for a time 0. For sufficiently high values of SO (SO > 1) and beyond a gradient threshold (S > Sc), we expect a sudden stretching of the molecule (coil- stretch transition), showing up, for instance as a strongly increased birefringence.
