AFR/RC28/R6:

The Regional Committee,

Having examined document AFR/RC28/17, 1. ENDORSES the measures taken:

2. THANKS the Director-General and the Regional Director for their approaches to the financing agencies and the pharmaceutical industry in order to arrange group purchases and feasibility studies on an African pharmaceutical industry;

3. INVITES Member States to apply the decisions contained in resolution WHA31.32 of the Thirty-first World Health assembly, adapting them to conditions in each country;

4. REQUESTS the Regional Director to give priority to training health personnel in formulating and implementing national and regional policies and drugs and medical supplies;

5. INVITES the Member States and the Regional Director to continue to implement resolution AFR/RC27/R8;

6. REQUESTS the Regional Director to keep the Regional Committee regularly informed of progress made by all the parties concerned, through his periodic reports.
