Keyboard Set-Up Menu

The Keyboard Set-Up menu is used to select various keyboard fea-tures. Figure 3-8 shows a Keyboard Set-Up menu. Table 3-8 de-scribes each of the fields in the Keyboard Set-Up menu.

• Selecting Typewriter Keys (default) causes the keyboard keys to generate the charac-ters shown on left half of foreign national keycaps.

• Selecting Dflta Processing causes the keys to generate the characters on the right half of foreign national keycaps.

• Caps Lock (default) causes the alphabetic keys to generate only uppercase characters when the Lock indicator is on. The

numeric/symbol keys generate codes for the bottom character printed on the keycaps .

• Shift Lock causes the alphabetic keys to generate only uppercase characters and the numeric/symbol keys to generate the top code only when the Lock indicator is

alter-nately enables (default) and disables the auto-repeat feature. When enabled, keystrokes are automatically repeated when a key is held down for more than .5 seconds. When dis-abled, only single keystroke operation is allowed.

(Parameter Field) Pressing ~lIiJti®1l' switches the keyboard between Keyclick (audible) and No Keyclick (silent) operation. Keyclick is the default value for this field.

(Parameter Field) Pressing ~lIiJli®1l' alternately enables (default) and disables the terminal from sounding a bell tone when the cursor is eight characters from the end of the current line.

(Parameter Field) Pressing ~lIiJti®1l' alternately enables (default) and disables the terminal from generating a bell tone for operating errors and receipt of Control-G.

(Parameter Field) Pressing ~1IiJ~®1l' alternately enables (default) and disables the illlll'®CIDilz: key.

This only affects break, not shift-break (long disconnect) or control-break (answerback).

For more information on the illlll'®CID~ key, refer to Table 2-2.

(Parameter Field) Pressing ~lIiJti®1l' alternately enables (default) and disables the ability of the terminal to automatically transmit the answerback message after a communication line connection.

(Text Field) Pressing ~1IiJ~®1l' allows input of a new Answerback message. The status line is temporarily overwritten with the message,

"Enter Answerback." Up to thirty-two (32) characters can be entered. Any ASCII or sup-plemental code can be programmed. Control codes are represented by their Display Con-trols characters. Pressing the ~1IiJ~®1l' key ter-minates entry of the answerback message.

To reset to "Visible" (default), a new answer-back message must be entered.

3.4.7 Tab Set-Up Menu

The Tab Set-Up menu is used to set and clear tabs. Figure 3-9 shows a Tab Set-Up menu. Table 3-9 describes each of the fields in the Tab Set-Up menu.

Clear All Tabs Set 8 Column Tabs

(Action Field) Pressing ~1Iil~®1r causes the Tab menu to be replaced with the Enhancement Set-up menu (see Table 3-10).

(Action Field) Pressing ~1Iil~®1r causes the Tab menu to be replaced with the Set-up Direc-tory. (see Table 3-3).

(Action Field) Pressing ~1Iil~®1r clears all pre-viously set tab stops.

(Action Field) Pressing ~1Iil~®1r automatically sets tab stops every 8 columns, beginning with column 9. Any previously set tab stops are cleared.

3.4.8 Enhancement Set-Up Menu

The Enhancement Set-Up menu is used to enter time and to enter data for the four PF keys (on the Numeric/Application keypad). Fig-ure 3-10 shows an Enhancement Set-Up menu. Table 3-10 describes each of the fields in the Tab Set-Up menu.
