Résumé : Après une injection de InClo, on trouve de l'indium dans la chromatine et les chromosomes, dans le nucléole et dans les lysosomes.

Abstract : After an injection of InCl

, indium is found in chromatin and chromosomes, in nucleoli and in lysosomes.

Indium, like gallium, shows an affinity for tumour tissue and indium-lll-bleomycin is a safe, effective and useful tumour imaging agent (1). This prompted our study on mi- tosis (spermatonia), meiosis (spermatocytes I and II) and spermiogenesis.

In this study, indium was detected in chromatin and chromosomes, in nucleoli and in lysosomes. The accumulation of indium in lysosomes has already been noted in Morris hepatoma 7316A (2) and in rat kidney tubule proximal cells (3). Judging by the amount of stainability of the cell organelles in material not treated with osmium indium seems to be also present, but in too small a quantity to be detected, in mitochondria and in membranes.

The house crickets were divided in different groups (12 in each group) and injected intra-abdominaliy with 20 ul of an aqueous solution of InCio. The concentrations studied were 10-2 M, 4 x 10-2 M, 5 x 10"2 M and 10"

M of InCl

. For the/dose of 20 yl of a 4 x 10~2 M solution of InCl3, the durations of treatment were 1-ri, 2 h, 3 h, 4 h, 2 days and 3 days. The testes were rapidly dissected and fixed in buffered 2.5 I glutaradehyde at pH 6.9. Some specimens were postfixed in buffered 2 % OSO4.

Dehydration in an ethanol series was followed by Epon embedding. The sections were 200 nm thick and stained with uranyl acetate (unstained sections are not visible at 1 M V ) .

The EELS analyses were performed w i t h an R - f i l t e r f i t t e d t o the Toulouse 1.2 MV mi- croscope. We worked a t 1 MV on s e l e c t e d areas about 100 nm i n diameter. The spectra were analysed w i t h a Tracor TN-11. Indium was always associated w i t h i r o n whether i t be i n chromatin, n u c l e o l i o r lysosomes, so perhaps i t i s bound t o t r a n s f e r r i n . I r o n was detected by i t s LZ3 l i n e a t 730 eV, indium by i t s M45 l i n e a t 460 eV.
