T h e r e f o r e , when we s p e a k a b o u t t h e r e s u l t o f t h e s u r v e y b e i n g "good o r b a d " w i t h r e s p e c t t o t h e LN-BO t y p e , we m u s t remember t h a t q u e s t i o n s o f a p o s i t i v e n a t u r e w e r e o m i t t e d i n o r d e r n o t t o make t h e q u e s t i o n n a i r e t o o u n w i e l d y . Q u e s t i o n s o f p r e f e r e n c e r e l a t i n g t o h o u s i n g a r e d i r e c t e d m a i n l y a t f a m i l i e s . I n e v a l u a t i n g t h e a n s w e r s , t h e r e f o r e , we m u s t t a k e i n t o con- s i d e r a t i o n t h e s i z e o f t h e f a m i l y . The r e s p o n d e n t s w e r e , g e n e r a l l y s p e a k i n g , h i g h c l a s s y o u n g p e o p l e , a b o u t 5 0 % o f whom w e r e u n d e r 30 y e a r s o f a g e , a n d n o t , t h e r e f o r e , r e p r e - s e n t a t i v e o f t h e t e n a n t p o p u l a t i o n a s a w h o l e , b u t o f t h a t a g e c a t e g o r y o f a p a r t m e n t t e n a n t s m o s t l i k e l y t o b e l o o k i n g f o r a c c o m m o d a t i o n . Young p e o p l e a r e v e r y r e c e p t i v e t o new i d e a s a n d n o t b o u n d by t r a d i t i o n , t h u s t h e i r r e a c t i o n s t o q u e s t i o n s c o n c e r n i n g t h e q u a l i t y o f t h e a c c o m m o d a t i o n a r e e x p r e s s e d more c l e a r l y . A s m a l l p r i z e c o m p e t i t i o n was o r g a n i z e d i n c o n n e c t i o n w i t h t h e s u r v e y i n o r d e r t o s t i m u l a t e i n t e r e s t . Of t h e 766 q u e s t i o n n a i r e s r e t u r n e d , 6 w e r e r e j e c t e d b e c a u s e t h e a n s w e r s w e r e i n a d e q u a t e . S e v e n h u n d r e d a n d s i x t y q u e s t i o n n a i r e s , 7 0 % , may b e c o n s i d e r e d

a v e r y good r e s u l t and p o i n t s t o a g r e a t i n t e r e s t i n t h e q u a l i t y o f a p a r t - ments and a d e s i r e t o c o n t r i b u t e t o f u t u r e d e v e l o p m e n t .

The s u r v e y shows t h a t i t was m a i n l y o l d e r r e s i d e n t s i n s m a l l a p a r t m e n t s , who d i d n o t r e t u r n t h e q u e s t i o n n a i r e . The r e s p o n d e n t s w e r e c e r t a i n l y v e r y i n t e r e s t e d i n t h e s u r v e y , s i n c e n o f e w e r t h a n 56% a d d e d s u p p l e m e n t a r y r e m a r k s t o t h e i r r e p l i e s t o s p e c i f i c q u e s t i o n s .

I n t h e t a b l e on t h e n e x t p a g e t h e q u e s t i o n n a i r e r e t u r n s f o r t h e b u i l d - i n g s i n E s p e r g a e r d e , S l a g e l s e a n d H o l b a e k , r e s p e c t i v e l y , a r e g i v e n i n d i v i - d u a l l y a c c o r d i n g t o a p a r t m e n t s i z e . The t a b l e shows t h a t 7 2 % were r e c e i v e d back from E s p e r g a e r d e , 65% from S l a g e l s e a n d 68% f r o m H o l b a e k . F o r a p a r t - ments c o n s i s t i n g o f two rooms and more t h e p e r c e n t a g e o f r e t u r n s v a r i e s b e t w e e n 70 and 7 3 % , w h i l e o n l y s l i g h t l y more t h a n h a l f o f t h e o c c u p a n t s o f one-room a p a r t m e n t s r e t u r n e d t h e i r q u e s t i o n n a i r e s . S i n c e t h e r e a r . e c o m p a r a t i v e l y few one-room a p a r t m e n t s i n t h e b u i l d i n g s i n q u e s t i o n , t h e r e s u l t s o f t h e s u r v e y a r e n o t s i g n i f i c a n t l y a f f e c t e d by t h i s f a c t o r . The r e s u l t s o f t h e s u r v e y show t h a t p r o p e r t y - o w n e r s , a u t h o r i t i e s and p r o d u c e r s m u s t , on a number o f c o u n t s , r e v i s e t h e i r i d e a s o f h o u s i n g s t a n - d a r d s t h a t a r e "good e n o u g h " , s i n c e t e n a n t s a r e c r i t i c a l o f c h e a p e r s o l u - t i o n s , show a p r e f e r e n c e f o r a h i g h e r s t a n d a r d and a r e w i l l i n g t o pay f o r

From a s o c i a l p o i n t o f v i e w , a d e p r e s s e d s t a n d a r d o f a p a r t m e n t - l i v i n g would mean t h a t p r o s p e c t i v e t e n a n t s would p r o b a b l y be f o r c e d i n t o t h e

i n d i v i d u a l h o u s e m a r k e t , which i n v o l v e s more l a b o u r , m a t e r i a l and c a p i t a l p e r h o u s i n g u n i t .

The r e p l i e s i n d i c a t e d a r e a s o n a b l e d e g r e e o f s a t i s f a c t i o n , b u t t h e b a t h / t o i l e t " u n i t " i n a p a r t m e n t s c o n s i s t i n g o f two l a r g e rooms and upwards i s t o o s m a l l i n t h e l a r g e / l a r g e - f a m i l y a p a r t m e n t s . The combined b a t h r o o m and t o i l e t i s n o t a s s a t i s f a c t o r y i n t h e l a r g e a p a r t m e n t s a s i t i s i n t h e s m a l l a p a r t m e n t s .
