Having examined tho report of tho rtorkshop on Extension of Family and Child Welfare Services within the Community Development Programmes (E/CN.14/19) and the,Commission1s Programme of Work and Priorities in tho field of Commun~ty
Dovolopment (E/aN.14/87) ,
Bearing in mind the importance of maintaining a balanco botween social and economic development in national planning programmes,
Expresses its appreciation of tho helpful contribution which the Workshop has made to tho study of this subjoct,
Approves the rocommendation that the Commission set up a standing committeo on social wolfare and community developmont,
Requosts the Executive Secrotary to sot up in oonsultation with the specialized agonoies standing committoQ of oxports in thoso fiolds from African States to study social wolfaro services, community devolopmont prcgrammos (including economic aspocts), social aspocts of urbanization
(including housing), training of personnol and the intordopondonco of tho sorvices in tho ostablishment of national social dovolopmont programmes in tho African countries,
Instructs the committee to convene annually prior to the Commissionfs plonary session at the same placo of mooting; and to present recommendations in thQ above fields to tho Commission at its plonary session.
