Pour cette VIII e manifestation, nous avons consacr6 c o m m e )'an der- nier, les deux jours pr6c6dents, 4 et 5 ddcembre, ~ la F o r m a t i o n M6dicale Continue C o n v e n t i o n n e l l e A. F O R . S P E / S M I E R sur le t h e m e de l'6cho- endoscopie.

Le Cours intensif lui-meme, se d6roulera sur deux journ6es et non plus une ; nous n'avons pas repris la s e m a i n e entiere de nos d6buts, car, devant la double contrainte actuelle d ' e c o n o m i e et de concurrence, cela nous a paru plus raisonnable.

Le Professeur M A R E S C A U X et le D o c t e u r N O R D nous offrent une lois e n c o r e l'hospitalit6 dans leurs prestigieux locaux de I ' I R C A D dont l'61oge n'est plus ~ faire.

HIFI C O M M U N I C A T I O N a am61ior6 dans tous les d o m a i n e s les pres- tations techniques d6jh excellentes l'an dernier et va nous faire b6n6ficier des ultimes progrbs de la vid6o-transmission.

Enfin, le Professeur Michel D O F F O E L nous a fait l'honneur de mettre ce cours sous sa haute responsabilit6 scientifique, ce qui repr6sente pour nous un t6moignage r6el de confiance et de reconnaissance.

Si tous les m6dias parlent aujourd'hui de F M C obligatoire, rien n'est e n c o r e fair p o u r le m o m e n t . En France, en particulier, a u c u n systbme d'accr6ditation n'existe.

Et pourtant, d~s l'an dernier, notre VII ~ Cours Intensif a 6t6 c o m p t 6 c o m m e validant dans le syst6me d'accr6ditation de nos collbgues gastro- ent6rologues belges.

Cette ann6e, le VIII e Cours Intensif recevra l'accr6ditation des Univer- sitds du Rhin du N o r d et la r e c o n n a i s s a n c e de celles de C a t a n e et de Nancy et une fois encore comptera pour le syst6me d'accr6ditation belge.

D a n s ce d o m a i n e 6galement, la S M I E R veut faire ceuvre de pionnier et nous esp6rons induire les pouvoirs publics franqais ~ mettre en place un systbme d'accr6ditation et/a rendre la F M C obligatoire.

Enfin au nora de tous, nos remerciements vont aux responsables de Fin- dustrie e n d o s c o p i q u e et pharmaceutique sans qui un tel cours ne pourrait avoir lieu.

O n December 7th, 1994, the Intensive Course of Endoscopy under the auspices of the Council of Europe came back to Strasburg here at the IRCAD to the general satisfaction of the participants and the organisers.

In the context of this Vlllth meeting, as last year, we devoted the two pre- ceding days, december 4th and 5th to the ~ Formation M~dicale Continue Conventionnelle ~, the official further medical training for French doctors organised by A. FOR. SPE and SMIER on the theme of endosonography.

The Intensive Course itself will take place over 2 days and not just one.

However, we have not come back to a whole week as at the beginning, this decision seeming more reasonable in the light of the twin constraints' at the present time of economics and competition.

Professor M A R E S C A UX and Doctor NORD are welcoming us again to their well known prestigious premises in the IRCAD.

HIFI C O M M U N I C A T I O N has improved in every field even on last years technically excellent performance and will treat us to the latest deve- lopments in video-transmission.

Finally, Professor Michel DOFFOEL has honoured us by accepting the scientific responsibility for this course which is for us a real testimony of trust and recognition.

Today, all the media mentioned the possibility of making official further medical training compulsory but nothing has yet been done. In France, in particular, no system of accredition exists'.

And yet, even last year, our Vllth Intensive Course was counted as vali- dation in the accreditation system of our Belgian gastroenterologists col- leagues.

This year, the VIHth Intensive Course will receive the accreditation of the Upper Rhine Universities and the recognition of the University of Catania and Nancy and again will count for the Belgian system of accreditation.

In this field too, the SM1ER is endeavouring to be a pioneer and we hope to lead the French authorities to set a system of accreditation and to make official further medical training compulsory.

Finally, in the name of us all, our thanks go the leaders of the endoscopic and pharmaceutical industry without whom this course could not take place.
