i n v e s t i g a t e d through 'resonance t r a n s i t i o n s ' i n l a t e 60s and e a r l y 70s. E f f o r t s t o extend work on 4p 4f and 5p a r e 4 proving very d i f f i c u l t beca:ise of very s t r o n g mixing with l e v e l s of 4s l t p 4d and 5s 5 (Y V I : Persscn and Reader 1986).
