(800 caractères max.) Stemming from web standards, the XMPP protocol suite enables a content- centric interoperability between applications across the web. Made popular by applications such as Google chat or twitter, this technology has since evolved to become a platform for mobile social media interactions. With the

unprecedented amount of User-Generated Content (UGC): blog posts, tweets, flickr photos, etc, questions now arise about how to post content, how to store it, and eventually how to filter and deliver it to constrained devices such as iPhone or Androïd phones. Today, most of those operations are currently performed in a centralized manner by Internet services. However, the evolution of social interaction patterns, the increase of exchanged content may render this approach obsolete in a near future.

The objective of this internship is to participate in the design and development of a decentralized XMPP-based mobile social networking platform. The system that will be developed will interconnect a news authoring system with real-time micro-blogging capabilities and social features. The intern will design, implement and evaluate data dissemination & filtering strategies on an Android testbed .

• Basic knowledge of a scripting language : Python, Ruby, Perl

• Strong interest in web technologies: XMPP, RSS, ATOM, JSON

• Awareness about semantic web technologies: RDF, FOAF
