The r e s u l t s of t h e experiments were analyzed both q u a l i t a t i v e l y , taking i n t o account t h e reabsorption e f f e c t on t h e in- t e n s i t i e s of spontaneous l i n e s and l i f e - times of excited s t a t e s , and q u a n t i t a t i v e - l y , using a computer, according t o t h e c a l c u l a t i o n .procedure given i n [ 3

These r e s u l t s %ogether with t h e f a c t of absence of modulation of s p e c t r a l l i n e s belonging t o t h e atomic spectrum, allowed t o draw a conclusion on conservation of a number of p a r t i c l e s i n considered associat- i o n of l e v e l s ( 7 9 9 ~ , 7 r 9 ~ , 7 9 9 ~ ) i n t h e cour- s e of r e l a x a t i o n . It i s impossible t o de-
termine t h e type of t h e p a t h , ( l ) o r (2),on t h e b a s i s of t h e a n a l y s i s c a r r i e d out.
4. A p o s s i b l e mechanism of de-excitation of metastable s t a t e s i s , i n our opinion,re- combination i n t h e displaced atomic spect- rum with He w i t h subsequent r e l a x a t i o n among displaced spectrum l e v e l s and with auto-io- n i z a t i o n i n t o t h e i o n ground s t a t e . A t pre- s e n t this process i s n o t s t u d i e d p r a c t i c a l - l y , b u t it i s of i n t e r e s t not only f o r s o l - ving t h e problem of continuous generation regime on s e l f - l i m i t i n g t r a n s i t i o n s of o t - h e r i o n s , b u t a l s o f o r i n v e s t i g a t i n g proce- s s e s of e l e c t r o n capture, recombination, a n a l y s i s of p a r t i c l e s and energy balances i n ionized gases, e t c .
