Htdrellez, baharm geli~ini kutlamak iizere Miladi takvimle 6 Mayts'ta uygulanan mevsimlik bayramlardandtr.

Anadolu'da kt~ mevsiminden sonra doganm canlanmast ile bolluk ve bereket beklentisini simgeleyen giin 6 Mayts'ttr ve bugiine Htdtrellez denir. Temelinde HIZlr kiiltii bulunur. Aym zamanda Htztr ve ilyas peygamberlerin yeryiiziinde bulu~tuguna inantlan giindilr.

Htdtrellez oncesi evlerde temizlik yapthr, ye~itli yemekler haztrlantr ve "htdtrhk" denilen bol agayh ve pmart olan mesire alanlarma gidilerek piknik yapthr. Burada ye~itli oyunlar oynantr, eglenceler dilzenlenir. Kimi yerlerde mesire alanmm ortasmda dev bir ate~

yakthr. Ate~in ilzerinden dualar ve maniler soylenerek en az il'Y kere atlantr. Agaylara bez baglanarak adak adantr. <;omleklerin iyine dilekler yaztlarak ak~amdan gill agacmm dibine konulur. Ertesi giin bir araya toplanmt~ olan kadmlar, y6mlegi ortaya koyarak maniler

Brief Description of the Element

H1drellez is a seasonal celebration which is celebrated on May 6th according to the Gregorian Calendar for welcoming the Spring.

6th of May symbolizes expectation for the reborn of the nature, fertility and prosperity after the Winter and recognized ad H1drellez. It is based on H1z1r cult, it is also believed that Htdtr and ilyas, who are believed to be prophets, are meet each other on this day.

On the eve of Htdrellez, houses are cleaned, various traditional meals prepared and on May 6th people have picnics on green and watery spaces which are called "Htdtrltk". Various games, competitions and amusements organized and a bonfire is lighted on the

I middle of the picnic area. People jump over three times from the bonfire while praying and singing quadrants called "Mani". Ribbons are tyed to the trees for wishes and vows are taken in case of wishes come true. On the eve of H1drellez women write their wishes to the small papers and put into a pot. Pot is left under a rose tree. On the day of Htdrellez, women gather around, put the pot in the middle of them and take out their wish papers from the pot while singing manis. In some regions wishes are also written on the small papers and thrown to a river or sea for aiming their wishes would reach HIZlr.

Htdtrellez is celebrated by both Muslim and Christian communities who want to prepare themselves to spiritual revival of nature and New Year on the same day in different regions of Turkey.
