COMMENTS D.D. KLUG

Can you estimate the pressure distribution in your diamond anvil at your highest pressures?

Answer

:

It is very difficult to give an accurate estimate of the pressure distribution at the highest presures. By the use of different anvil shapes one finds typically a difference up to 10 1. However in addition, one has to consider that the Raman spectra and phase transition kinetics are strongly affected by the completely unknown deviatoric stresses or in other words the distribution of uniaxial stresses.
