HOUSING, BUILDING AND PHYSICAL PLANNING

Resolution 157(YIIl)-adopted by the Commission at its 139 th plenary meeting em 24 February 1967

The Eoonomio Commission for Africa,

Recalling General Assembly resolution 2036(XX) of 1965? and the

official reoords of the Economic and Social Council's forty-seoond

session held in 1967 /Supplement No.4, Report of the fourth session of

the Committee on Housing, Building and Planning (^4287)7 and Commission

resolution 53(IV) of 1 March I962,

Noting with appreciation the information and recommendations con

tained in the document entitled Housing in Africa, (E/CN*14/HOU/7/Rev,l),

1* Endorses the work programme for 1^6l**1968 as contained in

document E/CN.14/36o/Rev, 1;

2* Urges developed countries, the Bank and other international financial institutions to review their policy on housing finance in order to channel increasing amounts of funds - grants and soft loans — for the financing of housing and related facilities|

3* Requests the Executive Secretary to take all necessary measures to help member States to accelerate the improvement of the housing

situation and to mobilize financial and technical resouroes from the industrialized countries and appropriate international financial organizations for this purpose.
