To give the Walloon economy a competitive advantage by

developing innovative ecosystems, driving technological breakthroughs and fostering start-ups.

Role of Smart City Institute

in Wal-e-cities

Smart City Insititute will play a transversal role over the different topics that are covered by this project

1. Analysis of the economical and societal impact on the Walloon economy

2. Make recommendations to leverage the

smart city development of the Walloon region - scientific literature review

- collecting best practices - multi-stakeholder process

Smart city performance measurement

in Walloon cities

Two master thesis students will start working on smart city performance measurement in Tournai, Mons, Charleroi, Namur and Liège.

1) Get an overview of the smart city strategic plans and measurement methods in Walloon cities

2) Help establishing a smart city performance measurement method in one of the 5 selected Walloon cities using the CITYkeys framework We are still looking for cities / municipalities to collaborate with.
