RESOLUTION No. 644

STRATEGIC ANALYSIS OF THE INTER-AMERICAN INSTITUTE FOR COOPERATION ON AGRICULTURE (IICA)

The EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE, at its Thirty-ninth Regular Meeting, HAVING SEEN:

The presentation of the “Report on Resolution IICA/JIA/Res. 506 (XIX-O/17): Strategic Analysis of IICA”, and

Resolution IICA/JIA/Res. 506 (XIX-O/17), “Strategic Analysis of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA)”,

CONSIDERING:

The Institute’s need to identify new financial and administrative modalities that would enable it to effectively address the challenges facing the agri-food sector and the cooperation needs of its Member States;

That, pursuant to its 2018-2022 Medium-term Plan (MTP), IICA will continue to develop and optimize processes focusing on continuous improvement, rationality, accountability and transparency in order to facilitate the provision of technical cooperation of excellence with measurable and verifiable results;

That the experience gained throughout the years and important advances in information and communication technologies and in management will allow for strengthening the Institute and streamlining its internal processes; and

That the Director General has presented a report on the measures adopted by his Administration to enhance IICA’s effectiveness in the delivery of technical cooperation results as well as its operational efficiency, through the implementation of a process culture and the administrative restructuring of its units,

RESOLVES:

1. To accept the “Report on Resolution IICA/JIA/Res. 506 (XIX-O/17): Strategic Analysis of IICA”.

2. To urge the Member States to support the efforts undertaken by the Director General to improve strategic processes geared toward institutional modernization, thereby enabling the Institute to provide the countries with technical cooperation of excellence that contributes to the achievement of competitive, sustainable and inclusive agricultural development in the Americas.
