Title: Survey concerning the physicians’ opinions and knowledge about the Departmental Council of the College of Physicians of the department of Seine-et-Marne
Introduction: The Departmental Council of the College of Physicians (CDOM) is an
organization which maintains medical ethics and quality in France. As such, any physician practicing on French territory must be registered with the CDOM. Physicians must be familiar with its functioning, its role and understand the interest of its existence.
Objective: The aim of this thesis is to study the physicians’ general opinion and knowledge
of their CDOM and to identify the factors which may have an impact on various resulting opinions and knowledge.
Materials and methods: From mid-April 2014 to mid-May 2014, a survey asking all
physicians of Seine-et-Marne, employed or self-employed professionals was conducted by mail using a questionnaire. Questions covered sociodemographic data of physicians, the contact frequency they report having with the CDOM, the general opinion of the CDOM, the reasons that may explain their view points, expectations that they may have towards the CDOM, their interest in the Council and the knowledge surrounding its practices.
Conclusion: Physicians from Seine-et-Marne have a rather fair opinion and knowledge about
their CDOM. A link seems to exist between the level of opinion, the level of knowledge and the contact frequency: the increase of one of these three factors is associated with the increase of the other two. The increase of communication between physicians and the CDOM seems essential to improve the opinion and the knowledge of the Council. Concerning these same physicians, being of a young age, employed wholly or partially and finally having some specialties such as anesthesiology, seem to be factors of unfavorable opinions and a lack of knowledge and interest in the CDOM.

Introduction : Le Conseil Départemental de l’Ordre des Médecins (CDOM) est un
organisme qui vieille au maintien de la déontologie médicale et qui participe à garantir une médecine de qualité. A ce titre, tout médecin exerçant sur le territoire français se doit d’y être inscrit. Il doit connaître son fonctionnement, ses missions et en saisir l’intérêt.
Objectif : Le but de cette thèse est d’étudier l’opinion et les connaissances des médecins
seine-et-marnais au sujet de leur CDOM, puis d’identifier les facteurs associés à de meilleures ou de moins bonnes opinions et connaissances.
Matériel et méthode : De la mi-avril 2014 à la mi-mai 2014, une enquête interrogeant
l’ensemble des médecins seine-et-marnais thésés, installés ou salariés, a été réalisée par courrier au moyen d’un questionnaire. Les questions portaient sur les données sociodémographiques des médecins, le nombre de contacts qu’ils ont pu entretenir avec le CDOM, l’opinion générale et les connaissances qu’ils ont de cet organisme, les motifs pouvant expliquer leur opinion, les attentes qu’ils peuvent en avoir et l’intérêt qu’ils lui portent.
Résultats et discussion : Les médecins seine-et-marnais ont une opinion et des
connaissances assez moyennes au sujet de leur CDOM. Un lien semble exister entre l’opinion, le niveau de connaissances et le nombre de contacts : la majoration d’un de ces trois paramètres est associée à la majoration des deux autres. Augmenter la communication entre médecins et CDOM semble donc indispensable à l’amélioration de l’opinion et des connaissances. On retrouve aussi comme facteurs de mauvaises opinion et connaissances et de désintérêt pour le CDOM : un jeune âge, un exercice salarié totalement ou partiellement, et certaines spécialités comme l’anesthésie-réanimation.
