• Aims
- to prospectively study intellectual, behavioral and psychosocial functioning following childhood severe TBI over 7 years postinjury,
- to examine the factors influencing outcome and change over time.
• Method
- TGE cohort: 65 children (66% ♂) assessed at 3, 12, 24 months and 7 years postinjury;
- Matched control group at 7-years follow-up;
Measures
. Wechsler Intelligence (WISC-IV and WAIS-IV) and Memory (CMS, MEM-IV) scales;
. Glasgow Outcome Scale Extended (Gos E Peds/Gos E);
. Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL) and Multidimensional Fatigue (MFS);
. Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function (BRIEF);
. Child and Adolescent Scale of Participation (CASP);
. Care and Needs Scale (PCANS and CANS);
. Age appropriate versions of the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL, YSR)
• Results
- Compared to controls, childhood TBI patients 7-years post injury reported : - Lower overall HRQoL;
- Increased levels of fatigue;
- Specific association between School Functioning (HRQoL) and Cognitive fatigue;
