The Offi ce de consultation publique de Montréal is an independent organization whose mission is to carry out public consultation mandates involving urban and land-use planning projects under municipal jurisdiction, but may include any project submitted by the executive committee or city council.

The future of Mount Royal access roads has already been the object of a number of proposals and recommendations, notably by the Montréal consultation bureau, in 1990, in its report on the fi rst Mount Royal Enhancement Plan, and by the OCPM, in 2008, in its report on the current Mount Royal Protection and Enhancement Plan (MRPEP).

To test the removal of transit traffi c, i.e. through traffi c, from the mountain, a Ville de Montréal pilot project for Camillien-Houde Way and Remembrance Road will run from June 1 to October 31. For the duration of the pilot project, private vehicles will no longer be allowed to cross over the mountain. Only service, emergency and public transit vehicles and bicycles will be allowed to do so using Camillien-Houde Way and Remembrance Road. During that period, vehicular access to the top of the mountain will be maintained, but it will not be possible to travel from one side of the mountain to the other by car.

On March 14, Montréal executive committee gave us the mandate to hold a public consultation on two items:

reflecting on the future and development of access roads to Mount Royal, and evaluating the pilot project eliminating through-traffi c on the Camillien-Houde and Remembrance roads. For the duration of the pilot project, various activities, some requiring attendance in person and others conducted online, will be organized to evaluate the impacts of the pilot project and imagine the future of access roads to the park.
