Public Consultation

Draft By-laws P-08-019 and P-040-047-62

Development of a new shopping centre and thematic green spaces on the western section of the Saint-Michel quarry site

Draft By-law P-08-019, entitled “Règlement autorisant l’implantation d’un centre commercial et d’espaces verts thématiques dans la partie ouest de la carrière Saint-Michel,” and draft By-law P-040-47-62, entitled “Règlement modifiant le Plan d’urbanisme de la Ville de Montréal,” were adopted by city council at its meeting on April 28, 2008.

The Office de consultation publique de Montréal (OCPM) will hold a consultation on the draft by-laws and make relevant documentation available to the public.

PURPOSE OF THE CONSULTATION

Adoption of a draft by-law pursuant to section 89 of the Charter of Ville de Montréal

Draft By-law P-08-019 provides for a variance to the urban planning by-law of the borough of Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc Extension (01-283) to authorize the construction and occupancy of buildings for commercial purposes, as well as the development of green spaces.

The draft By-law contains provisions on uses, heights, land coverage, building line, parking, courtyard occupancy, as well as planning, architectural and design criteria, and penal provisions.

Amendment to the Master Plan

Draft By-law P-040-47-62 provides for the necessary adjustments to the Montréal Master Plan to authorize the development of the shopping centre and thematic green spaces. The amendments modify, among others, the land use designation map, the employment sector map, and the construction density map.

The second part of the consultation, devoted to hearing those wishing to express their opinions on the project, will begin on June 10, at 7:00 p.m., at the same location.

The deadline for filing of a brief, is June 4.
