Internship to augment security features of an IoT oriented gateway
Description
Help change the way people connect with the world...
Bell Labs defines Nokia’s technological and architectural vision for the ICT industry, identifies the key challenges in this vision and invents solutions to address them. Discovering the possibilities that shape the human experience are at the heart of everything we do, and our researchers are inventing technologies to make networks and systems faster, smarter and greener.
Our interns will have the opportunity to learn from and work with our teams of researchers, with diverse expertise. Our teams are dedicated in transmitting you a hands-on educational and collaborative set of experiences.
In the IoT control group, we explore finely controlled LAN networks, based on custom network slices.
This feature brings additional security possibilities to the home/enterprise networks (e.g. through network isolation), and a field of exploration around new paradigms of sharing of IoT devices. This work currently instantiates through a solution based on a set of SDN controlled equipment like home gateways, and a user-facing system that models the network, the connected IoT devices, the slices they are in and their sharing requirements.
In this context, we look for a motivated student to augment some of the security aspects of the solution. The work ahead addresses two tracks, first the design and implementation of the security layer of the user-facing system and second the exploration, design and implementation of an IoT devices monitoring process, that assess the compliance of the device behavior with its declared behavior.
