L’auteur, architecte, urbaniste, enseignant, inscrit sa création architecturale depuis 60 ans dans une continuité prenant en compte l’évolution de l’art de bâtir de la préhistoire à nos jours. Il s’inspire du passé, notamment de l’architecture vernaculaire à travers le monde, étudie longuement le Japon traditionnel, retient les apports des quatre grands maîtres du 20ème siècle, recherche le contact avec l’environnement naturel ou urbain dans un état d’équilibre et une lisibilité des composants de l’espace bâti.
Dans l’histoire des hommes l’architecture est le fruit d’une cristallisation en progrès dont le com- mencement et la fin sont indissociables.
Roland SCHWEITZER, loin des objets solitaires, contribue à une architecture contemporaine qui appelle la participation en suscitant le dialogue homme-environnement (ordre ouvert).
For 60 years, the author, an architect, urban de- signer and teacher, has embedded his architectural creation in a continuum that reflects the evolution of the art of building from prehistory to the pres- ent day. He draws inspiration from the past, in par- ticular vernacular architecture across the world, has devoted long study to Japanese tradition, has internalised the contributions of the 20th century’s four great masters, seeking balance and intelligibility where the components of built space interact with the natural or urban environment.
In human history, architecture is the fruit of an ongo- ing process of crystallisation, whose beginning and end are inseparable.
No builder of solitary objects, Roland SCHWEITZER, contributes to a contemporary architecture that de- mands participation by stimulating the dialogue be- tween man and environment (open order).
