For a competitive and innovative mountain, leader in sustainable development.

THESARD PRIZE 2013

of Mountain Chambers of Commerce and Industry

The Vosges Chamber of Commerce and Industry organises the 3rd Mountain Thesard Prize, which aims at supporting and promoting research on mountains regions in European universities.

5000 euros will be awarded to the author of the PhD thesis selected by the Mountain Scientific Committee, a multidisciplinary group of 15 European mountain experts and university professors.

To compete, theses must meet the following criteria:

Theses must have been defended from 2009 to 2012.

Theses must deal with topics related to mountain issues.

Theses must concern the social, economic or human sciences fields and/or touch on environmental aspects.

Theses must be the work of European research team and may be written in any language of the European Union.

To participate in the preselection, please send a CV and a summary of your thesis (5 to 10 pages maximum), both written in their original language, before 15th January 2013, by mail or email at:

The prizegiving ceremony will be held on 17th October 2013, in La Bresse (Vosges-France), during the 5th European Biennial Event of Highland Regions, which will deal with the topic of the “Attractiveness of mountain regions”
