The study aims to highlight the role of small and medium enterprises in the development of the Algerian economy, based on a set of statistics and reports on the relationship of small and medium enterprises with a set of economic and social indicators in the economy of Algeria, using the analytical descriptive approach in which we found that Small and medium enterprises are the core of the process of economic development and an effective tool to achieve economic development by contributing to the gross domestic product and creating value added, creating jobs, providing the needs of the population and contributing to foreign trade through Contribution even if it is weak in the export process from which small and medium enterprises can be considered one of the pillars to promote the national economy and the nucleus of the successful economy
