Abstract. — The study by Mossbauer spectroscopy of various iron (III) salts of p-substituted benzoic acids shows a dependence between Mossbauer parameters and both Hammett's a and cr0

functions. These results suggest that the substitution of the phenyl ring does not change the ionisa-tion state of iron. Furthermore, a and a0 can be readily estimated by Mossbauer spectroscopy.

Résumé. — L'étude par spectroscopie Môssbauer de divers sels ferriques d'acide benzoïque

para-substitué montre une dépendance entre les paramètres Môssbauer et à la fois les <r de Ham-mett et les OQ des substituants. Ces résultats perHam-mettent de montrer que la substitution sur le noyau benzénique ne change pas l'état d'ionisation du fer.
