HAL is a multi-disciplinary open access
archive for the deposit and dissemination of
sci-entific research documents, whether they are
pub-lished or not. The documents may come from
teaching and research institutions in France or
abroad, or from public or private research centers.

Abstract. - Mossbauer spectra of Fe(II1)-P4VP, Fe(I1)-P4VP and Fe(C0)4-Py were measured at room temperature. The complexes show a Cline spectrum corresponding to two different iron forms. The isomershift and quadrupole splitting values point out the presence of both high and low spin iron for P4VP compounds. The Fe(II1) compounds are a mixture of 6A1 (S = 512) and 2T2 (S = 112) iron electronic states, while in the Fe(I1) compounds states 1Al (S = 0) and 5T2
(S = 2) are present. At room temperature the equilibria are shifted towards higher spin states. A trigonal bipyramid seems to be the typical structure of the pyridinic complex.
