The Economic Commission for Africa,
Desirous of making more efficacious the proceedings of its sessions, Considering that the increasing volume of its activities makes it impractical to hold a comprehensive review of its entire work programme every year except at the expense of depth and ooncreteness in its
discussions,
HaVins examined the recommendations of the Executive Secretary in this respect,
Accepting the need to devote more staff time to operational activities and less to formal reporting,
Affirming, however, the need to maintain an adequate degree of
contact between member countries and the work of the seoretariat in these formative years,
1. Decides to continue to meet every year and to limit the agenda at each session to a selected number of items,particularly those on Which, as a result of preparatory work and negotiations, the time would seem ripe for concrete decisions;
