Item 10 of the Provisional Agenda: Review and possible amendment of the Rules of Procedure of the General Assembly

Resolution required: paragraph 2

1. At its second session, the General Assembly decided to add an item to its agenda called

“Review and possible amendment of the Rules of Procedure of the General Assembly”, in order to add a Rule to its Rules of Procedure concerning the suspension of those Rules.

2. The General Assembly may wish to adopt the following Resolution:

DRAFT RESOLUTION 2.GA 10 The General Assembly,

1. Having examined document ITH/08/2.GA/CONF.202/10;

2. Adopts new Rule 19 concerning the suspension of certain Articles of its Rules of Procedure as annexed to this Resolution.

New Rule 19

Suspension

The General Assembly may suspend the application of (Iran): certain Rules of Procedure, except when they reproduce provisions of the Convention, by a decision taken in plenary meeting by a two-thirds majority of the States Parties present and voting.
