Annex 9: Summary of declarations of interest
Declaration of interest forms were collected from every member of each guidelines working group. Eight potential conflicts of interest were declared. Charles Gore declared that his travel expenses to attend this consensus meeting were paid by his organization, the World Hepatitis Alliance. Margaret Hellard declared that she has been awarded research grants by the Australian Government for Hepatitis C research and surveillance. Brian McMahon’s organization, not him personally, received funding from Gilead Sciences for his attendance at a meeting in November 2011. Siobhan O’Connor and Eyasu Teshale declared that their organization, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, paid for their travel to the consensus meeting. Billy Pick declared that the expenses for his travel to the WHO consensus meeting was paid by his organization, U.S. Agency for International Development.
Lara Stabinski declared that the U.S. President’s Emergency Program for AIDS Relief paid for her travel to attend the consensus meeting. Tracy Swan declared that she was a consumer representatives for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Antiviral Advisory Committee from 2008-‐2011. These interests were assessed by the WHO Secretariat as not sufficient to preclude the above eight participants from participating in the development of the guidelines.
