General Fertility Trends

Accompanying this statement are two published documents both on the natality situation of the country. They are the results of the first ~d . second year (1970 and 1971) continuous demographic survey which was ~Qunched

in mid-1969·

In the table below there are sOme differences in the fertility indices of the 1970 and 1971 figures. Nearly a~l of these differences are due to sampling variability and do not represent any basic changes in the fertility trends over the one year interval. However, since the exercise is an

eA~erimentalene, it will be quite appropriate.to take the average of the two data as most reliable.
