Acknowledgement of the Land
Reconnaissance du territoire
We live not only in virtual spaces, but also in a very real place and on a certain part of this land. We
recognize and remember that others have been here for generations before us, living on and from the land, which provided them with both physical and spiritual nourishment.
The indigenous peoples have cultivated a strong spiritual bond with “Mother Earth”. We want to honour their welcome and in return be respectful of their needs and their valuable contributions to this country. We thus commit to better inquire about the reality in the lives of our Indigenous siblings and to stand with them in solidarity and respect.
Nous vivons non seulement dans des espaces virtuels, mais aussi en un endroit et sur une terre bien réels. Nous reconnaissons que cette terre sur laquelle nous nous trouvons, à différents endroits au Canada, a nourri les autochtones pendant des
millénaires : nourriture physique, mais aussi nourriture spirituelle.
Les peuples autochtones entretiennent encore aujourd’hui, un lien spirituel étroit avec la « Mère Terre ». Nous voulons respecter leurs besoins et honorer leur contribution importante à ce pays-ci.
Nous nous engageons donc à nous intéresser davantage aux conditions de vie de nos frères et sœurs Autochtones pour plus de solidarité et de respect.

Sometimes we do not notice them.
You have given us the harmonious songs of every kind of bird of the air.
Sometimes we do not pay attention.
You have given us the soft touch of another’s hands.
Sometimes we do not feel it.
You have given us the aromas of lovely flowers and good food.
Sometimes we do not smell them.
