of the territories.

~. In the field of power statistios, the series on production, oonsumption and available oapaoity of eleotrioity supply will be maintained. The indioators of sales of petroleum produots will also be oontinued. It is unlikely that ^anyconsiderable developments in this field will take plaoe.

The balance of payments. The preparation of the balanoe of payments study will be oontinued, and information on the territorial parts of the balanoe of payments that oan be oalculated wi thin the

framework of the East Afrioaa oommon market will be prepared. It is hoped, by various surveys, to improve the study oonsiderably.

10., Apart f:"'om general development work in the above sphere, the Bast Afrioan Statistioal Department will beoome responsible for the a anal7Sie and publioation of statistios of inoome tax assessmeats.

11. The Government of Zanzibar have indioated their wish for more servioes from the East Afrioan Statistioal Department, and a study of the national inoome of this Proteotorate will be one of the first tasks 'III1dertaken in this field. Attempts at a balanoe of payments study are already being made, and it is hoped that in the first two 18ars of
