Abstract:
Objectives: To know the clinicopathologic distribution of Hodgkin lymphoma patients in the University Hospital of Our Lady de Secours, the outcome of these patients during 20 years (from year 1990 until year 2010), and to study the effect of the treatment variation on the survival between the two periods of time : 1990-
1999 and 2000-2010.
Materials and Methods: We studied 101 patients with hodgkin's
lymphoma, diagnosed between 1990 and 2010, and who were followed by
oncologists within the CHU-NDS. This is a retrospective study done by consulting patients' medical records and notes.
Results: The male to female ratio is almost equal to 1: 1. The age distribution showed a peak incidence in the age group between 21 and 25 years. The most common subtype is the nodular sclerosing type with 55.4% of the cases studied.
Induction therapy has given complete remission in 80.28% cases. The rate of survival is 91.3% (between 1990-1999: 81% and between 2000-2010: 95.8%) and progression-free disease at 5 years is 79% (between 1990-1999: 77.3% and
between 2000-2008: 80%).
Conclusion: The Hodgkin Lymphoma in CHU- NDS has a clinico-patholgique characteristic and survival which approaches the results in international
centers and hospitals. And there is an increase in the survival during the 2000-2008 period of time.
Keywords: Hodgkin's lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, nodular sclerosing, mixed
cellularity, Ann Arbor, radiotherapy, chemotherapy or combined therapy.
