The Economlc Commission for Africa

Recognizing the importance of co-ordinating programmes of indust- rial development in African countries in order to achieve maximum eoonomic growth,

Recognizing the dangers inherent in competition among African States in the pr-ovi saon of economic incentives and industrial legislation to attract capital investment,

~oting that a preliminary study of African investment codes inclUd- ing data on current legislation has been prepared at its re~uest and will sh.ortly be published,

1. Recommends to the Governments of member States and associate members of the Commission that they should review and if possible harmon- ize industrial legislation and incentives through the sub-regional offices of the Commission;

2. Re~uests the Executive Secretary to report to the Commission at its next session on the progress made.
