Designation of the breaker-point
for a progressive wave on decreasing d e p t h
The investigation is confined to plane progres- sive waves and malces use of 2nd order classical theory; the effects of the law of decrease in depth and of reflection (flat beaches) are ne- glected. The conditions for breaking are derived by considering the horizontal motion of particles, and are then presented in graphical form. The theoretical results obtained are in good agreement with observations in the labor- atory and in nature.
HOMMAGE.
